Twin Dreams   

Please contact me via phone or email if you want to engage in psychotherapy.  I can see you in person if you live in Southwest Florida or the Four Corners of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico.  I also provide psychotherapy by telephone.  I specialize in treating twins, both fraternal and identical, one or both twins.  I am trained in family therapy and would love to see the whole family if possible.  My other specializations are trauma, rape, domestic violence, alcoholism, and drug abuse.  I often use dreams and active imagination to transform relationship patterns that are painful or ineffective.  Other techniques include hypnosis, dream interpretation, meditation, and Buddhist practices.

I offer one half hour free for assessment.  I accept most major insurances including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna, MHN, TriCare, Magellan, and others.

I charge $50/hour for phone counseling and $75/hour for office appointments with a sliding fee scale.

I use dream interpretation in my psychotherapy practice and continue to study Jung, Freud, and the cognitive theorists, Domhoff, Antrobus, Hall, and Van de Castle.  I will happily discuss any dreams or dream series that you share.

The death of a twin is one of the most devastating losses ever experienced. I lost my own identical twin sister Malinda when we were 39 years old in a plane crash.  An excellent psychotherapist saved my life while I contemplated suicide.   I am fully prepared to work with twins who have lost their twin in an empathetic and deeply caring way.  I have studied this phenomenon and the grief that results.  The organization Twinless Twins is a tremendous resource also.

The life stages of twins differ from those of singles.  The experiences of attachment in infancy, skill development in latency, dating and college in adolescence and young adulthood, separation in adulthood, marriage and child rearing in family life, and twin loss all present challenges that are difficult to understand if not a twin.  I am available to consult on the best approach to these issues with educators, authors, scientists, and twin lovers.  I have immersed myself in twin research and literature for many years and can help to interpret our world to others.

I have received the PhD in Human Services from Capella University in 1/10.  For the dissertation,164 dreams were collected from female identical twins whose twins are alive and from female twinless twins, then compared to dreams from female college students.  The research has found significant differences which illuminate the cognitive schema of twins.  If you are interested in the results of this study, please email me or you can purchase the entire study at www.etdadmin.com/ordercopies.pdf id number 11165.
